Numbers 10:33-36 (Arise O Lord!)

“So they departed from the mountain of the LORD on a journey of 3 days; and the Ark of the Covenant of the LORD went before them for the 3 days’ journey, to search out a resting place for them. And the cloud of the LORD was above them by day when they went out from the camp.

So it was, whenever the Ark set out, that Moses said:
“Rise up, O LORD!  Let Your enemies be scattered,
And let those who hate You flee before You.”
And when it rested, he said:  “Return (reside tranquilly), O LORD,
to the many thousands of Israel.”

After the Exodus Israel had two modes.
(1) When they were at rest encamped around the Tabernacle which contained the Ark (God’s Throne) of His Presence The pillar of fire and smoke rose from the Ark to cover them. This is a picture of us with God’s Spirit within, covering us so that we can rest under His protection
(2) When they marched into new territory the Ark of His Presence, with the covering pillar went ahead of the army. This shows as that as we march forward in faith God goes before us and His Spirit is upon us to give us the victory.

Each time they went forward they released their faith by saying:
“Rise up, O LORD!  Let Your enemies be scattered, and let those who hate You flee before You.”

Likewise we are God’s people, so as we move forward, we should SAY in faith:
“Rise up upon Me, O Lord. Go forth before me and let Your enemies be scattered, and let those who hate You flee before You.”

When we come to rest we should SAY to the Lord:
“Lord, I am now resting, let Your indwelling Spirit rest tranquilly
upon me, and cover me - for my protection from those who hate You.”
The amazing thing is that they were never attacked while they practiced this!
